Coffee is one of the most important beverages taking part in human history since ancient times. It is very difficult to understand how it was first found as well. Of course, we do not know exactly how humanity learned to take the seeds of a fruit, roast it, crush it, dilute it and finally enjoy it. However, it is almost known where it came from. It also has a slightly mystical story.

As we all today know, the homeland of coffee, rather where it meets people, is Ethiopia. As you can see on the map, Ethiopia is where magical Africa meets the Middle East. This place, where land communication was not possible at that time due to the huge Sahara Desert, was known thanks to the merchants passing through Yemen by ships and the Egyptians arriving from the Red Sea coast. Therewithal it was not possible to go too far. Because this time you were encountering the jungles of Africa, and those forests were endless. The story of coffee naturally takes place in Ethiopia.

One day, an Ethiopian shepherd named Kaldi left her goats alone for a while and when he came back, he saw that they were all lost. Naturally, he went looking for goats around. Meanwhile, he plunged deep into the forest and saw goats dancing like crazy around a tree. He realized that what made the goats so enthusiastic was the crimson brown fruit that swayed on the branches of the tree.

Of course, the wild fruit he saw on the tree looked very delicious with its crimson color. Also, as everyone would do, he tasted this strange fruit and suddenly found himself dancing with goats. When he returned to where he lived, he immediately went to the monastery and shared this discovery with the monks there.

The story is a little strange after this. The monks thought that the fruit that Kaldi eats must have demonic powers in order to cause such effects on a person. They naturally threw the fruits on fire to bring out the evil spirits that gave it that power. However, they were impressed by the aroma of coffee roasted in fire. You know that when evil comes out of something, only good remains. With this in mind, they roasted and, possibly, mashed coffee to get the good spirits inside it. So the good spirits in coffee passed into the water. Later, coffee prepared in this way by monks in the monastery started to be consumed. Especially when the sleepy and energizing aspects of coffee were discovered, it became extremely popular among monks to work late.

Although it is not known exactly how coffee was discovered by people, there are many stories similar to the story of Kaldi and they all take place in the same area. So we are almost sure where the coffee came from: A region called Kaffa in Ethiopia. Of course, many types of coffee trees have been discovered today. But the first coffee is Ethiopian coffee. Of course, the place of Ethiopian coffee is always special.
